Clemency is an essential tool to  repair the harms of systemic injustice; promote compassion, mercy, and equity; reunite families; and create an avenue of relief for aging and sick incarcerated people who are suffering. In Massachusetts, no woman has been granted a commutation - the shortening or ending of sentence - since 2014. Action is long overdue!

Families for Justice as Healing and supporters across the commonwealth are calling for urgent action on clemency during the month of November.

Clemency is an essential tool to repair the harms of systemic injustice; promote compassion, mercy, and equity; reunite families; and relieve suffering. Pardons can protect our immigrant neighbors from deportation. Commutations are also a key strategy to reduce the population of MCI-Framingham in order to prevent new prison construction.
