Clemency in Massachusetts Now!
Families for Justice as Healing and The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls are leading a Clemency Campaign in Massachusetts to free women who are aging, sick, survivors of sexual violence, and women who have served decades of time already.
Women in prison are separated from their children, grandchildren, and families. Women in prison are subjected to isolation; a culture of punishment and deprivation; and sexual harassment, abuse, and assault. Women deserve a second chance to come home to their communities where they belong to live a life of dignity and purpose.
In 2025, over 130 faith leaders in Massachusetts demanded Governor Healey use her clemency powers , especially as she proposed the new $360 million women’s prison project. Read their letter to the governor here.
